Nealey, thank you for all your work on the August challenge. I am pleased to see the house was done several times. I would have liked to have tried it.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
Nealey, I'm so sorry I didn't get to draw or paint anything from your lovely pictures. Thanks so much for hosting the August forum.
Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.
Kicker, you are correct there are no rules about how you edit and if you wish to add a picture to your comment you may. However, there are rules of curtesy and respect to members. This is a friendly sight open to all levels of art for beginners as well as the more experienced artist to show their art in a friendly and encouraging environment. Please refrain from any more personal attacks and discurtesy in future.
Jen C & C's always welcome
Hi Hal, good to see you here again it has been a while. We look forward to seeing your work and Gus soon!
Nealey, thanks for this months challenge. The month always goes too fast!
Jen, glad to see you're still active here. I'll try to work at least one painting in this month.
Hal : The Sunset Beckons:
Nealy stop kicking yourself over your WC. Looks pretty good to me. I think that if you would darken the forground so that it looks like you are coming out the shadows of a wooded area you would like it more. Your coming along fine.
C and C always welcomed
Geri, thanks for your support of my WIP. Yesterday I started fresh because I couldn't lift up the muddy shadow. It's all good - good practice.
Thank you all who participated in the August Challenge. Alex thanks for popping in! Miss you!
Comments and critiques are welcome.
OLD SOUTHERN HOME from a PMP photo by Vikki Wooley
5" x 7" water soluble graphite on wc paper
I'm happier with this one.
Nealy ,you captured an amazing range of texture with your soluble graphite..... Quite impressive.I've never worked with that medium.
Hal, Thank you for commenting on my drawing - wash. I accidently bought the water soluble pencil last year and I really like using it! Happy accident. It's just drawing, but with more blending capabilities.
Nealey, you have captured a wonderful atmosphere with this drawing, it has such a soft dreamy quality. I liked this reference photo and your drawing has made it come to life.
Nealey, your WC is beautiful and I really don't see anything wrong with it. You do have a strong affinity to pencils though and your drawing is superb.
Sarah, sorry is missed your waterfall. Very nicely done with a good sense of moving water.
did anyone else have trouble getting into the site yesterday?
For several hours last evening I was unable to get in. The message was that the site was down/.
Jen & Bonnie ~ Thanks for your comments on the Southern Home. Glad I started this out on wc paper. I was just going to do a value wash as Sarah suggested.....then I "got in the zone" and took it much further. It's amazing how the type of paper used changes the work.
I just want to remind everyone that the forum exists to give everyone--new friends and seasoned members alike--the opportunity to participate. There are no rules on how to communicate with one another besides courtesy--and that includes making everyone feel welcome and cutting each and every one of us a bit of slack if we do things differently or hit a bit of a rough patch when it comes to communicating in written form. It is easy to interpret tone but I think that everyone's intentions are good. After all, we are all here because we are passionate about art--and the more people we discuss that passion with, the better the world is.
If you have questions, let me know. All best!
