Bonnie, hello and it's nice to see you commenting even tho you may not have time to paint.

I finished a WC (for better or worse!!)   I did a lot of planning before I painted this.  Still didn't turn out the way I wanted but I think I said, "It's done" in time!!  This scene brings back so many good memories of my childhood. My great-grandmother's home was down the water's edge where I put the faint boathouse in.  My second cousin taught me to swim right there when I was a toddler.

9" x 12"  CHAUTAUQUA LAKE, LAKEWOOD, NY

watercolors on Strathmore wc paper.

Comments and critiques are welcome.

Nealey

Thanks Bonnie,

Nealey I like what you did here of your happy Summer place. the painting works quite well with the warm sun and cool dock and water. The tree does seem to cut the painting in half and you could make it two paintings. Nice memory painting.

Summer has finally decided to come to us and we are having triple digit heat at the moment. Still it has been a nice Summer with cooler temps and frequent rain thus far so I am not complaining too much. It was hot at the studio even with the air on so we all got a bit brain dead. I started this painting of my youngest grandson age two. Still needs work. I know I could do it in pastels but thought I would try it in oils. Not as good at portraits in oils. We will have to see. Just got the initial sketch today. His eye is off.

10x10 canvas Charcoal pencil  still a bit messy

Now I remember why I no longer live in Arkansas.

Nice little drawing you have started here I like the expression and the way you have done the hair.

Nealy there is nothing to be ashamed of in this WC.  The trees look a little purple but that may be the way the camera saw iy.

Hello Nealey,

you have two paintings in one if you divide it vertically in the centre. Maybe lift off some of the brown foliage on the right facing?

Lovely use of the yellows and blues. Very fresh..

Hi all.  Havent had time to comment but have been watching all the great work. Life has gotten in the way of art and I'm having painting withdrawal.  I started on Niagra today and will post later when I'm a little further along.

Nealey your water solubale graphite portraits are fabulous.  I'm in awe of your drawing abilities.  Great watercolor of the lake scene.  Lots of sunny light.

Sarah great lines on the sketch of your daughters garden.  Both your watercolors have captured the atmosphere.  I especially like the drama of your stormy clouds.  Jens gnomes look great in your fairy scene.  Such a fun painting.

Jen your sketch's are wonderful.  I hope you paint them.

WIP.  Acrylic in board 12x15.  Still a lot of detail work to do but thought I'd take a pic before I lose daylight.
