Karen, your painting of the fish is coming along so beautifully; it is always so interesting to see how artists develop their work. I love the translucent look of the colors on the fish in the center.

Jen, this is such a pretty painting of children at the shore. The pale colors of the sea and sky and reflections are lovely, and it is a charming scene. The fabric and texture of the canvas adds to the beauty, It reminds me of my grandchildren at that age visiting the Carolina coast.

Sarah, despite not being fond of snakes, I do appreciate your treatment of the subject, especially the way you painted the grass. Your paintings of families and children and pets at the shore always have such a timeless quality ... the kind of scenes from childhood that we treasure in our hearts and that writers memorialize. Your watercolors are always lovely and these are no exception.

Hello Alex,

I am glad to say that there are still families here who like to go on this type of holiday instead of travelling to Spanish beaches etc.

The snakes are more like very large colourful worms.....and harmless.

Jen a sweet beach scene.  I am not brave enough to not scetch the detail.  Great job.

Sarah your watercolors are wonderful.  I am amazed at the detail and movement you achieve from life.  Your clouds and water are wonderful.

Karen , sometimes paintings just do that! I am sure you will win as it all looks great so far! The bg rocks and seaweed recede nicely.

Sarah, I love the beach scenes. The donkeys remind me of when I was a kid on Summer holidays, when my cousins and I used to ride them at the seaside. Happy days fondly remembered. The snake is nicely done too although not my favourite creatures. Too many nasty ones here to want to look at too closely!

Thanks you all for the nice comments on my children on the beach. I finished it today although it is still coming across lighter than it is. 6 "x 6" oil on canvas.

I am off to the grands for a couple of weeks. I will check in when I can.

Jen C & C's always welcome

Hello Charlie,

thank you for your comment..many of our small seaside towns/villages hold summer fetes to raise funds for the upkeep of the rescue Lifebooats which are mainly manned by volunteers..

Didn't comment on your building, very interesting story and well worthy of your w/col. There is a beautiful memorial to US airmen near here...It is a semi circular high wall built in stone with all the men's names carved in to it. The rest of the memorial is given over to roses.

Sarah, some nice summer fun in your seaside paintings. The two with the children look like cool wet weather but enjoyable none the less. I think the children would enjoy themselves more with the activities in your paintings then sunning on a beach. The paintings really express the atmosphere of the day. I like the painting of the snake, our grass snakes are smooth sided grass snakes and are very green. I haven't seen them since I was a child and wonder where they have gone.

Bonnie   C & C most welcome / appreciated
