I'm pretty sure I would be considered a beginner because I don't really know much about art. Now, I sort of have 2 or 3 questions.
Number 1: What kind of art style is it if I like draw animals and nature and stuff? And do you know of any artists with similar drawing types that I can like follow for inspiration and all?
Number 2: I know that you're supposed to like draw what you see and not copy off the internet. But I'm really bad at drawing realistic. So I copy like cartoon-ish pictures off the internet. So I can stay away from drawing like real things. Is that bad? Is there any way that I can like transfer from drawing that stuff to realistic drawings or something? I want to be able to like look at something and draw it.
Number 3: I am like the type of person who if she doesn't get it the first 3 or 4 times, then I usually just give up. That's one of the reasons I can't draw realistic. Because I give up to easily. And also because of that, I don't draw that often. I really want to become good at drawing and become an artist. Is there any way to change that?
By the way, please don't give me any ideas like join a club or a class or anything else that costs too much money. Because I don't think I'd be allowed to do that.
Thanks for your help!
Continue drawing the way you enjoy, just do a lot more of it..Draw the cartoon the exact same way several times..Then, try to draw it without even looking at it. Spend some time putting shadowing into the image. When you feel ready, look in a mirror, and draw your eyes. Eyes are fun to practice your skills on, and when you are good at it you can start putting color into the images. Spend time on your drawing, lots of time..hours as opposed to minutes will make all the difference in the long run. Good luck!
Well don't worry about you are a beginner because every famous artist also be a beginner at some place. So if you want to make animals and nature draw then you have to choose sketching first. Everyone face few issues while doing drawing so just believe in your skills and make whatever you want .
Hi Jiya. Drawing because you love it is the best beginning and you will improve as you go because of the practice. There are some fantastic free art lessons and you tube videos online so I recommend googling for 'how to draw realistic animals' or something like that. I specialise in teaching non-drawers. The best advice I have to convert your cartoon drawings to realistic ones is to learn about observation tricks that will help you.
The biggest reason that people find it difficult to draw realistically is that they are influenced by what they think they know (including me). Learning how to see your subject without that influence is literally eye opening. eg. Look for information on negative space.
I have a blog - www.getdrawing.wordpress.com in which I give all sorts of information for beginners.
Good luck and keep drawing.
