Last night I was cleaning my studio and came across a stray piece of parchment paper and decided to sketch a horse on it. And today I realized that we have an animal forum up and running, so here it is!

Nicely done! Unusual viewpoint too :)

On another topic...several years ago I visited the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary - wonderful place! The hawk painting on your blog is beautiful! Very energetically handled, yet true to the bird. Bravo!

Thanks for posting the drawing of the horse from the view I remember as a kid.

I used to drive sulkey horses when they weren't being raced. Those trotters were pretty fast for this 10 year old kid way back then...

Thanks everyone! And JB, I imagine that was quite a thrill for a 10 year old - I know I would have loved it! My neighbor had a trotter and I used to hang out by his pasture to watch him working him out. I have loved horses since I was a child, never outgrew them!

Thanks Nancy! The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary does amazing work with the birds. I was on the Sunshine Skyway fishing pier with my husband on the fourth of July and saw a couple netting and rescuing one of the injured pelicans. They had rescued four of them that same afternoon. The poor fellow was a young pelican that had three fishing hooks in him and was trailing four feet of fishing line behind him. They removed the hooks and line and checked him over he was able to be released. They are volunteers for the sanctuary and go out there every chance they get - they said they always end up rescuing pelicans, but love it. I took an advanced course with them on bird rescues, so this was great first-hand knowledge to see.
