Did this painting for my granddaughter. Turned out to be more challenging than originally thought . Was conscious of edges soft vs hard but not sure if desired result achieved . Would be grateful for input . Thanks .

The important thing here is that you captured a memorable image of your Granddaughter, and that is why we create, to bring a smile to someone.

the only thing I would suggest is to think about the positive and negative space of a piece, you simplified the crowd beautifully to draw attention to your GD, I would've liked the piece even more if the focus was entirely on her and given just hints of the other players. Planning your painting with sketches gives you time to focus on composition, and the important parts of the painting.

Hi,

I like this.  The blurred horizontal brushstrokes (in yellows) on the right side of the painting work well to suggest movement.  I find it interesting that this part is juxtaposed with the very static bodies.  It suggests that this is a very important moment in time (a snapshot).  Given that (I presume) this is a picture of your granddaughter in the midst of scoring a point -- I think it's a great tribute -- the crowd is watching, the opposing team is unable to block her, the lights are shining down on her, (the cross is backing her up???)...  It's great.

Well done :)
