Geri this is great.  I didn't have a chance to comment but with dealing with many challenges from our freezing weather this have me a great laugh.

Jen sounds like a great time in Chicago.  The animation class sounds like a lot of fun.  Your Mickey is terrific.

Fred fantastic news from Animal Asia.  I'm sure your painting will inspire many to support the cause.  Looks like you are having fun with the yupo paper.  I love the flowers

Wow Joyce.  A lot of snow.  We had some snow but mostly freezing temps.  It finally warmed some, thank goodness.

Lovely pictures everyone. Speaking of Winter, we finally got some this morning, no snow, but some serious frost.

We are back now to the usual rain, though. What would you people do with this one in a photo challenge? I'm curious. The photo is pretty much straight, just a little HDR and sharpening. It was shot with the phone just before a cross country race that we were marshalling. We got pretty cold in it.

C&C Welcome

I started a big project.  My Niece attends Pitt and wanted a painting of the Pittsburgh skyline.  I am working on a 24x30 canvas.  I started with a charcoal sketch and am now putting in some values with greys.  I am trying an underpainting first before blocking in colors.

Karen this big painting looks like it is going to be awesome! I love the bridge and river with such a well done sky line. I can't wait to see the finished painting.

Shelley, the frost on the succulent greenery is very interesting creating abstract patterns that would be difficult to reproduce.

Karen, you have a great start on the Pittsburgh skyline. I was born in Pittsburgh and lived there for the first thirty years of my life.  When we were dating, my husband and I often walked along those rivers at the Point.  I'll be eagerly watching this develop.

Fred, you're getting some interesting patterns and textures on the yupo.  Fairy Chimney is interesting and provides dwelling for a lot a creatures.

Fred these are both very interesting.  Universe looks to be filled with space junk.

Catherine and Sam thank you for your encouraging words on my WIP.  I worked on the skyline today but will wait for more progress before posting.  The further I get the more scary it becomes.  I'm hoping I don't make a mess of things as I add color.

Hello Karen!  Your painting of the Pitts skyline has a good beginning!  Looking forward to your interpretation.  Whenever I get "stuck" or afraid to proceed, I find that sitting back aways and squinting at my work helps me to see what I have to do next.  It just seems to pop out at me....

Hi Fred!  Prolific as ever!  I like your abstract of the universe - nice mix of colors.

Comments and critiques are welcome.

Karen I forgot to ask if this is oils or acrylics?
