Nealey, I love your doodle.  I sat here studying it for a long time very intrigued.  I love how the roots wrap around the numbers; how the tree branches intertwine; how the rocks or eggs are embedded in the underground roots.  Very lovely and creative.

Well dne Karen.  One of my goals for this year is to learn how to do portraits or at least ones that you can recognize.

Hi Geri, I like your new avatar of the pitcher with the face on it.  Thanks for the prompt to change out our holiday avatars.

Mary, welcome to the forum.  I look forward to getting to know you.

Thank you Sam, Bonnie, Jen, Claudia, Alex, Marsha and Nealy for the kind comments on my Grandson Alec's portrait.  I have 9 Grandchildren.  I figure they will keep me busy learning portrait painting.

Geri this is my second portrait and I learn more each time.  Just go for it.  Your self portrait was fabulous.  I like oil because if a feature looks off I can just scrape it off and put it were it belongsStick out tongue

Geri I also like your new avatar.  Guess I should get around to adding one.Smile

Welcome Mary! Looking forward to seeing you art!

Nealey what an interesting drawing of 2014! Really a great drawing!

Karen the painting of your grandson is very nice! I really like the details of his clarinet. I also like your 2014 painting and the wonderful shapes inside the lettering.

I did a first try at the horses last night. Used mechanical pencil then my charcoal pencils. I lost my shapes and it ended up being to cluttered with heavy lines so I'm not posting it as I've written on the drawing regarding the areas I messed up on. I did manage to get the placement on the page pretty good though with a few nice areas of blending. I'm going to stick with this photo and try all sorts of things for effects. When I get a decent one done I will post it.

Bennie and Ruthie return to Mars and under the thick protective dust, have a glass of champagne happy in their knowledge that all the inhabited moons and planets in the Galaxy have been informed about the earth humans ambitions, 11x14 acrylic and W/C

Fred, Bennie and Ruthie look so contented as they toast the arrival of the New Year.  They certainly have had an adventurous 2013.  I like the colors of Mars and the happy faces of the bears.

Fred, the thick protective dust and your bears, looks like our new years. After everybody fired their fireworks, we couldn't see the fireworks fired from the castle anymore.

Protectiv forcefield, your colors are prettier so.

So far the new year has been pretty god.  I hope you all are fairing well.

I woke this A.M. to this.  Very beautiful. These are color photos even though it doesn't look like it.  These are from my front porch about 9 o clock.  Just thought I would share.
