I'm an old visitor of the American Artist website and reader of the magazines. I have been quite happy with both of them until Online Shop stopped working and just disappeared (and did not process my last order either).
I think that the best improvement of this website would be Online Shop resurrection. I live in a small town and Online Shop was the only way for me to get your magazines and books. I also suppose that I am not the only person who experiences this problem.
I had the same problem - the online shopping disappeared. after trying several avenures to find out what wa sgoing on, I called the publisher - i htink they have changed publishers and will have the store up in the future. The only way to know is to keep trying to access the store
I visit this site very often and every time I have a look if Online Shop link appeared again.
I asked about Online Shop disappearance in the old American Artist forum and got the answer that the owner has changed and the shop will be available again soon. That "soon" has been lasting for 4 months so far.
Hi all. Our shop was on Nielsen's old systems and being run through a fulfillment warehouse that Nielsen had a contract with. Long story short, it's not easy to move all that stuff over (I know, cry me a river... ). But the good news is that we are working hard to get the American Artist shop back up and running soon. Hang in there!!
BTW, may I ask what kind of products you really liked in the American Artist shop and what kind of things you'd like to see us stock going forward? Just curious!
Thanks to all for raising this! I'm sorry that the mysterious, disappearing online shop has been a source of frustration. That said, I am gratified to know that it's been missed.
Eric's note is absolutely correct. All the 'stuff' that was being sold through the online shop had to packed, loaded, moved, unpacked, and re-loaded into inventory in our our warehouse in Colorado. Everything was received last week but we still need to get the system up and functioning. That will happen. In the meantime, it would be fabulous if you could share what kinds of things you're looking for - back issues? aprons? coffee mugs? VHS copies of "It's a Wonderful Life?" The truck (and, now, the warehouse) has it all!
Best,
David
Eric and David, thank you very much for your answers.
It is great news for me! I can't wait to read my favorite magazine again.
Now about what I'm missing:
1) I was buying current American Artist monthly issue every month.
2) Quite often I was buying back issues when I found that they contain something actual for me, even 1990s issues were very interesting and useful.
(It was very helpful that the web site had quite detailed description what is inside old magazines. Then the descriptions became just standard "copy-paste" sentences during last years, which was not very convenient. So I tried to enlarge cover photos as much as possible to be able to read magazine content outlines.)
3) Sometimes I was buying current and back Workshop and special issues (Drawing, Watercolor, etc...)
4) I also bought a few books.
So, I can say that I'm 100% after magazines and books.
Thanks, Arti. Good info. If you were buying AA every month, I would highly recommend you become a subscriber. It'll actually be less expensive than paying full cover price each and every month. Here's the link ... http://www.myamericanartist.com/subscription.html
And please do stay tuned for back issues, special issues, books, and more. Our fulfillment team is working on it.
Eric, thank you for the advice about subscription.
I was thinking about it and I'm going do it for the next year. I only didn't do it before because I have been expecting to move to a new house, so it was easier to use Online Shop, especially since I'm buying back issues and books too.
And of course I stay tuned. I check this website almost every day.
Hello,
I'm just wondering how the Online Shop resurrection is going. Couple of months ago I have noticed a new link 'Purchase current and back issues' in the Subscription web page. I was so happy, but my happiness disappeared very quickly when I discovered that there is nothing but 'The American Artist Online Store is Currently Not Active'. The page says' check back to this page in a few weeks to view our exciting art books, magazines, and products', but no changes so far. Maybe someone of American Artist staff has some information about the Big day when the Online shop is going to start working again?
I purchased American Artist subscription in the beginning of November, but I haven't got any magazines yet. So I still have to hunt for the magazine in the news agency shops.
Hi Arti. Yes, I have good news regarding the store. It will be operational and ready for you to purchase American Artist products by the end of the month. We're very excited about the new store and I think you'll really like it. Stay tuned ... we'll announce it here and to our email newsletter list as soon as it's available.
Thank you Eric, that is really good news! Can't wait when the Oline Store start working again
The new Online Store for Interweave is up and running!
You'll find it here, but I'll also post an Announcement.

The only (however, big) disappointment is that the prices for back issues increased a lot in comparison to those VNU Media had, from $3.95 to $9.99.
The March 24-31 50% sale makes the situation better, but only for one week, unfortunately.
Hi Artie,
I'm not sure about the price increase, but I'll make sure that the appropriate people hear your concerns.
Thanks for letting us know,Karyn
