I notice there are hundreds if not thousands of great artists that frequent this forum. I usually check all the posts in the critique my artwork part of the forum because I feel most comfortable there. Hopefully what I post helps others but I kind of wonder sometimes because I am untrained and just someone that likes art and aspires to be like many of the great artists that post on this site.
I see a few posts that have recently been brought up from almost a year ago and see that back then there were several posters that post in other parts of the forum that were posting in the Critique My Artwork part of the forum.
I hope that more of the trained artists will start to check out the posts there more often and help whenever they can. I know when someone posts their artwork and they don't get replies it does not feel good. Even if you have to be kind of critical you can always say something nice to balance it out.
I hope to see some new names posting in the critique my artwork part of the forum. I know everyone that posts will really appreciate it.
I have to agree with you on all points. We need the suggestions and opinions of more well trained, professional artists here in the forum. It is a great way for artists to offer their experience to others.
I have been a professional artist all of my life and I try to be active in the forums. Over the years, I have not offered much criticism of members work. Lately I have tried to correct that by offering constructive criticism more often.
It is always best to be cautious with criticism. Criticism must be constructive but it must also be encouraging.
The best critic of our work should always be ourselves. Most of us are well aware of the things that could be improved in our work. We are all learning. We should learn from the work we have done—then go on to the next project. It is a step by step journey.

Paul, I think everyone would be very lucky to have someone of your caliber looking over their artwork. The "critique my artwork" forum is what brought me to Artistdaily. I'm with Kris, as an amateur artist wanting to grow, and would love some guidance from those I respect. I agree, though, encouragement with criticism is quite important. There's nothing worse than seeing someone's passion squashed.
I hope I have never hurt anyone's feelings. When I first came to this forum there was very little activity in the Critique My Artwork part of the forum. It can be hard to know what to say sometimes especially being a beginner and not knowing much about art but I tried to give compliments and any advice on what I was seeing. I know most of what I say is meaningless but I hoped by posting it would drag some of the more experienced lurkers out of hiding and make a contribution to the artists in need of help. It is definitely nice to have experienced artist posting to help people learn.
