Hello Joyce Lydia,
sorry to point out again...these 'photos should be on Chatter not here.
those who teach shall also learn and those who learn shall also teach - Peter Laslett
feel free to make constructive c/c...no digital alterations please
Alexandra this is beautiful portrait nice contrast, I love the light effect you get with this technic.
Comment and critique are welcome
Joyce Lydia, Madison looks so happy on her first day of school. Special life changing moments. Mason probably misses her now and wishes he was going. These remind me of when my grandchildren and children had their first day of school.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
Hearadh, I totally do not think my photos belong on the chatter site, this challenge was re: first day of school (school days). I stand with my photo’s that they should be on this site. No I don’t think they are as good as anything you or any other artist, but I did take the pictures and are school day pic’s. The challenge name is All Media Photo Challenge and my photo was the media I did this months challenge.
Claudia and Alex thanks for the cc’s.
All C & C's always welcome
Bonnie thanks for the cc's
This is wonderful! I love it. Also, thank you for your comment on the African Princess, where do I find my being artist of the week? Thanks again!
I posted on the wrong reply button, so here it is again I love this portrait! It is wonderful. Also, thanks so much for the comment and congrats on my African Princess, but where do I find artist of the week? Thanks again, Donna
Joyce, you are totally correct. Photography is an art medium and your subject fits perfectly with the theme of School Days for the month of September. Your grandchildren are adorable.
Alex, your school girl painting is also appropriate for the Sept. Challenge. One doesn't have to do just the school girls that were posted as reference photos but any school girls. I would like to comment on your lovely painting when I have the strength to sit at the computer for a longer period of time.
Sam/Sammy C & C Welcome

Hi Donna, I sent you a message through Artist Daily's message system about the Artist of the Week just now. I hope we'll see more of your lovely work here in the Challenge forum, too.
Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.
Thank you, Sammy.
Kim, thank you for hosting this month's Challenge. The photos of school children were inspiring and it was wonderful to see the historic one-room schoolhouses as well as all the accoutrements of schooldays - crayons, erasers and the apple for the teacher sitting on the beautiful fabric.
Hearadh, and to everyone on this site I wish to ask forgiveness for the tone I use when answering Hearadh comments about my photos. I don't really know what came over me. Again I am sorry. Joyce
Everyone did a great job this month! I apologize for not replying individually, but you may still hear from me since I'll be spending some time soon to put up the Gallery pics for the month and I will enjoy viewing the art more thoroughly then. Time has FLOWN by.
If you are like me and just didn't get time, pls. do submit any art belatedly. I'll get it in the Sept. Chall. Gallery whenever it comes in.
Joyce Lydia, I'm sure that Sarah was respectfully trying to help keep the threads from getting blurred. Every member has their own opinion and does try to help in their own way, even to help keep us on track (being correct or incorrect is besides the pt. - we all pitch in to help and hope to do so in an a positive atmosphere).
I had assumed your photos (cute kids!!) were addtl. ref. photos for the month, so I made an incorrect assumption too. If viewing as works of photography, I would just make a minor suggestion to consider cropping to bring the focus more on the adorable subjects. These photos, though not nec. intended as addtl. ref. photos, would indeed make great resources for painting. I can esp. imagine the 2nd closer one as a ptg.. Look fwd. to seeing much more of your lovely art, tho I can see your grandkids rightfully so do make the time fly by.
PS to Joyce: I was just going to post my comment above when I saw you added a comment. Everyone and their art, are imp. and valued on this site, which is one aspect I like about this site/thread. I can't speak for others, but I do apprec. your latest comment. Hey, I see you're a dog lover, so we know you're a great person. It's often hard to convey one's thoughts just via the internet/type. Hope to see you/your art again soon...I always look fwd. to it.
Alex, thanks for your comments re. the photos for the month. Still working on a Chall. ptg. now...time is ticking.
Kim T (Kim513)
Denis, thanks so much for your lovely comment.
KIM: Thank you for stepping up to the plate this month for the monthly challenge that I was unable to do. I will be doing the November challenge as Sam and I traded months this year. I will be ready when the time comes...
Joyce your grandchildren are adorable, I receive a photo each year from my daughters for their kids first day of school, my grandkids all love school and every child in the world should have the right to do so. especially girls in countries where they still are not allowed to go to school. AND, Kids now a days are lucky to have back packs, I sure wish we would have had those when we went to school, those books were heavy.
Now I am looking forward to the October Challenge and can hardly wait for it to be posted......
