Beyond Green - Using Color in Landscape Workshop at Artspace - Raleigh, NC
Instructor: Amy Funderburk
Tuition & Materials: $215 ($195 members/educators) + $12 registration fee
How do you handle all that green? What about all the gray and brown
inevitable within an urban setting? How did the landscape evolve from
subdued naturalism to the daring color choices of the Fauves? What
approaches can artists take today to keep their paintings original and
fresh with vibrant color? In this workshop you will be given keys to
making editorial decisions about color choices in the landscape. A slide
lecture component and discussion of the effects of various color
schemes will begin the workshop, followed by color mixing and matching
exercises geared toward landscape and cityscape. After a demonstration
by the instructor, weather permitting, participants will hone their
skills with a hands-on plein-air project in the media of their choice. Working from photographs versus plein-air
will also be discussed. Students are welcome to bring digital cameras
and work from reference shots of our location should the summer heat not
permit outdoor work. Supply list will be provided upon registration.
