Claudia looks like your paints have turned out very well. I don't see how you obtained such strong color. Very well done and a unique composition..
C and C always welcomed
Hello Claudia,.... pleased to see someone else besides me experiments with colour...after all it was vegetables/flora/sea creatures which provided colours that were used to dye cloth of all kinds from very early on in civilisation. I have made my own paper too but found it time consuming.
As for the perspective... too much would have to be changed so leave it as it is and think of it as a well painted naive painting. I like it as it is.

Alex, I will start with yours and then catch up with everyone in a minute!! I like your first sunflower and I like this one even if it is a little more exotic for a simple sunflower. I was going to suggest, only I couldn't get online last night, that you could add a spot of cerulean blue in the shadows to give it more depth. Maybe another time. Either way you did a great job!
Yes ribs are pigs! Just don't think about it they are bacon too!!!LOL
Claudia, Great idea to turn it into a sunflower catalogue! You have done a really nice original painting, well done.
Jen C & C's always welcome
Okay, here we go. First thank you for all your nice comments on Curly and the pigs. I did fiddle some more on Curly. I had to darken some areas to make the rain stand out but it is more balance now. Not enough change to post though.
Sarah, Yes , I have seen those rows and rows of white windmills that have sprung up all over Britain. You have captured them and the rainy day perfectly.
Joseph, I am glad you joined us and welcome. I really like the damp atmosphere of you surfing painting. well done.
Bonnie. Super drawing of the sunflower and great job on the bud.
Elizabeth, What a peaceful scene of the ducks. good job on the ducks and water.
Alex, what a sweet little pig all fluffy and new.
Sarah, What a lovely painting of the hay bales. nice job on capturing the light. I really like your bee too it is so realistic. the bees have gone here too and a lot of other insects like preying mantis too.
Fred, I love this guys attitude he is so proud of himself bringing his flowers and hooch for his lady! She has to be say she is just making pie. the dogs expression is priceless!
Okay I think that is me all caught up again.
here is one I did of the boy and the water feature. I drew it in pencil first and messed up his face with the pen.
thanks for making the effort to comment on my work.....the chat is a bit daunting to get through.
The boy shows some good drawing but I wondered why he looked 'unbalanced' until I realised his head wasn't above his knees or large enough for his age. Also the perspective of the paving is a little off...sorry to be so critical and hope I haven't upset you....I still think it is a good drawing.
Dog Days.....simple quickie of my dog Piper
and a portrait of Jeeves...both watercolours
Jen, thank you for your comments. I'm so glad to see you're back to drawing and painting after your trip. Although I agree that perhaps this boy's head could be just a tad larger, this is a very good drawing of a complex posture and setting. I love what you did with capturing the way he held his hands in the fountain in the photo.
Sarah, charming paintings of Piper and Jeeves!
Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.
Thank you for the comments on my sunflower drawing!
I have to make it short, it's getting busy here right now.
Jen, you sketch on the boy at the water is nicely done. Difficult pose, but i like the way you captured it.
Sarah, very nice watercolours of the two dogs.
C&C always welcome
Alex - Very nice sunflower bud. I actually like both versions a
lot. The second with the added splash of color does give it more
Claudia - 400 years Hortus Eystettensis is very
interesting. I like how you did the words on the page. Very nice
colors. It does look a little flat, but actually really like it as it is. Maybe a bit more shadow and a bit of strong highlights would do the trick. But like I said - like it as is. Looked up the reference - very interesting reading.
Jen - Super job on the boy playing in water. I like the free pencil/pen strokes. Really makes this piece interesting.
Sarah - Piper and Jeeves are great. I especially like the head shot of Jeeves. His eyes really sparkle. You've captured his happy attitude.
Side Note: I'll be posting art work for week 2 of challenge 34 sometime tomorrow. Great Art and Inspiration!!!
First of all many thanks to Sheila for being a lovely host and for the wonderful selection of photos, you have a great farm and a beautiful daughter.
I apologize for not commenting but want to let you know that I've seen all of your works and they are just wonderful, you guys are all so talented!
Even if I've done those works quite time ago I think they will fit pretty well in this challenge.I hope you will like them.
C+C are always welcomed!
A wonderful night to you all!
PS. I forgot to mention the titles of my works and media
I do not want to play now..(my lovely dog pictured in her favorite spot from my garden)
Touching the sun...
acrylic paintings on Strathmore mixed media paper- 8in-6in
I am so sorry, I do not know what happened,I thought I've already loaded my paintings...I will try again...
The first one..really like that ...then the dog (you obviously 'understand' and are fond of her)
Painterly and full of texture s all three.
Thank you Alex , Claudia and Sheila for your comments on the dogs.......Piper can't stand for very long as he has arthritis in all his joints. Jeeves would do anything for an edible reward.
Jen, so glad to see your work. Good job on the boy playing in the water. To me this is a very hard challenge photo. You have captured his hand expressions which look difficult and is what you notice in this photo.
Sarah, love your Piper and Jeeves paintings. Lovely looking dogs that must be good companions. I especially like Jeeves' mouth with his teeth and tongue.
Cristina, great paintings. My favorite is the butterfly but they are all lovely. Your dog looks cute and cuddly and happy.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
Sarah,Bonnie, your comments mean a lot to me,many thanks!!!
