Sarah, a lovely watercolor of Aubrey! I like the setting she's in - it looks as though she's expecting to find baby bunnies and tiny birds around the corner.

Alex what a wonderful little drawing! I like how it fills the space and also how well you've done your values/shading/tones with it.

Thank you Cath, Bonnie, Jim, Fred, Jen, Sam, and anyone else I might have missed.
SARAH: I love this painting of my grandaughter, the BG is great. What size is it? and what paper did you guse?
ALEX, this is a beautiful lovely, drawing of the Oleander petal. In real life they do look this soft.
I was at the Doctor yesterday with my husband and the testing took a couple of hours, I worked on a fake plant they had sitting under the TV... (the only pretty thing in the whole room) Drawing kept my sanity while waiting....it took my mind totally away from the room. He came out before I could finish and I didn't take a picture before I left. I will post it on chatter. so I understand how it can just take you into a restful place. I love the DATE Yesterday 3-13-2013.
MARSHA
C & C Always Welcome
It takes courage to learn about oneself from one’s failures as well as from one’s successes.
Here is my value sketch #2 of the river walk. I just tweeked it again a little bit ago. I'm not sure how much detail to put in the painting as this is a very detailed image. It seems everytime I look at the photo I see more light and dark areas along with interesting angles etc. I'm going to keep doing drawing it until I feel I have the one I want to paint. This is in my sketch book @ 9x6 inch. I always seem to be trying to do my art in a rush. It takes me a few hours after work to even settle down and usually by the time I eat etc, I'm too tired. I need a plan. :) well, I can see right now the roof on the building on the left has a perspective issue on the right side of the roof edge. I'll fix that so ignore that mistake.
Sam, Catherine, and Marsha, thank you for your kind comments in my graphite sketch of the oleander blissom. It has been a struggle to balance drawing and consulting in my retirement, with drawing getting the short end of the stick in terms of time. After enjoying the pleasure of my "doodle" today, I've again decided that starting tomorrow I'm going to draw/paint the first couple hours of every day, then switch to consulting. That way I'll get something artistic - however small - done each day before I get too tired. (I tried this once before but didn't enforce it.)
Catherine, a wonderful graphite sketch of the River Walk. It will be interesting to see how it develops!
Sarah - The clothing, bow, and hair are esp. well done, but the contrast is what makes this. Great job.
Alex - You may want to keep paper/pencil handy during ALL your conference calls. This turned out super.
Catherine - Lookin' good! Great you are observing lots of values too.
Kim T (Kim513)
C&C welcome!
I've been working on varied commitments - will show you my ptd. juke box in Chatter when done. Meanwhile, since I've not much time, I will fudge and post a previous ptg. of a frog (chall. from PaintDoodles - last yr.). Will try to still get in something before March marches on.
approx. 6 x 8" watercolor
Sarah, what a charming WC of Ashley. I think Gerri's idea of her waiting for the white rabbit is very apt! You have captured her pose so well and her dress looks great too. You are such a good painter. What size is this? Sure hope you get some warmer weather soon. Our weather warmed up to the 70's today and the blossoms are out. We could still get snow and another cold snap yet before the heat comes! My Mum always said the US sent all their weather to them so maybe yopu will get lucky!
Jen C & C's always welcome
Catherine, Nice sketch of the river walk. You will get it. Have you tried converting the colour photo to black and white to see the values? all that colour can get confusing.
Kim, I love this painting of the frog. He looks so happy. The colours are great too. nice composition with the water lillies in front.
Cath, great Riverwalk Sketch, it will be wonderful when finished.
Kim: The Frog is Outstanding.... I love frogs as well.
Sarah, again I love the picture of Aubrey, I showed it to her mother via email and she loved it as well. what size is it?
The weather here is in the mid 80's, yuck summer is coming.... that means Chiile pepper heat.... 120's
Here is my Granddaughter Aubrey, Watercolor and colored pencil combined, 9 x12 on some cheap 90lb (not) paper
Marsha your Aubrey painting is wonderful! I love her face, it's so classic looking! I was just happy to get the tilt of her head! lol
Jen...How do you switch color photos over to black and white? That's a great idea!
Kim..I love your frog! He/she looks so happy there in the marsh. Very nice job Kim.
Sarah, what a good painting of Aubrey. I also like the colours you used for shading in her dress and your shading around the sweater really sets it off. The colour of her face brings her out in the painting. I also like the background and the foreground with the little flowers. I am wondering how you managed to get her eye and eyebrow in such a soft way and still be prominent. Lovely painting.
Catherine the River Walk sketch is great. Am looking forward to seeing more. Usually to print in black and white you change the setting on the print screen, probably in properties that is usually beside the window that identifies the printer.
Kim, your frog is a darling. Love the colours. He looks so happy in his environment.
Marsh, great painting of your granddaughter. You have certainly captured her in the painting. Lovely colours and the dark background show's her off. And you have her turned foot just right.
Alex, nice sketch of the oleander flower macro. I looked a this photo and wondered how you would be able to differentiate between the centre and the outside petals. You have done it beautifully. So glad you are planing to take a little time for your art, we have missed your inspirational work.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
