Bonnie I like yor birds.  I bet it was hard to paint WC on sandesd paper.  Your background I think makes a very nice sky.  They look like they are setting on a dead limb cudeling up to each other which birds of the parrot family tend to do.

. I tried to catch some fog. I mist.

Bonnie, the pastel on the suede created an interesting, artistic effect.  These Lorikeets look terrific and so does the background.  Kudos to you for being free enough to experiment.

Thank you, Sarah, Geri, and Sam for you comments. I think the acrylic ink worked out ok as a base. I wanted something that would give a strong colour but I think I got that with the water colour purple as well however that is a dark colour and with the yellows etc water colour might have been washed out looking. I think the pastel gave me just as dark a colour as the acrylic. Thanks again.

Bonnie I love the way the front one is looking at us curiously or warningly? Maybe defending his friend. The bg showcases the birds nicely.

Jim, you did a great job of my Dad from such a small picture. You have captured some likeness especially his hair.I think you can give yourself a big pat on the back for this drawing. The reference was not that clear so well done.

James I agree with Jen this is a very nice drawing and it has the spirit of the era the photo was taken.  The only problem I see and it is a small one is the shadow under his neck.  It is all one value a b looks a little flat.  Well done sir.YesYes

Jim, you've captured the essence of him. Smile His face in the photo is a bit more narrow in width which is the main diff. that I see. (Chk. distance from ear to eye, then compare to remainder straight across.) Nice contrast with shapes of value that clearly speak to details of him that make him recognizable. You've also managed to give this a look of that period. Well done!

Jim, great sketch of Jen's Dad. I knew who it was right away so you must have captured him. Nicely done.

James, even though you're being critical of the drawing of Jen's dad, I, too, knew who it was immediately. In addition, I like seeing you work in a different medium as a change. Nice job!
