Hi everyone, I'm new here. Thought I'd share a piece I did as a birthday present for someone.
Even though I work in many mediums, drawing is still my favorite. I like to use at least 80lb. weight drawing paper and a variety of pencils, from B to begin to 6B for dark shadows, sometimes glazing in lit areas with an HB or even and H.
While this person was away on a business trip, I cajoled his fifteen year old son and their dog Clover to pose for a few shots in the sun. I had to work quickly because you know what little patience a young person has, not to mention the dog!
When I got home, I saw that the face of the boy in one photo was terrific but the dog was looking away. In another one, the dog looked great but the boy had a funny expression. So I cut out the head of the dog in the good one and pasted it into the photo where the boy looked good.
I worked on a 16x20 sheet of 80lb paper. It took me about 35 hours to complete. Luckily I started in time and was able to present it on the person's birthday. I was terrified that I would only get a "That's nice" kind of response. I got so much more. When he opened it tears immediately formed in his eyes and he blurted out "That's my boy!" We both cried. It was the best reaction I could ever hope for.
VERY nice. i hope some day to be abl to do work like this. Put you work on the Member Art gallery.
Thank you kindly, Mr. Gunn.
Beautifully rendered! You know you've done it right if you make them cry!!!
Another fantastic work from you. Great.

Hey, thank you! I had a great teacher for graphite drawings. Nick Raynalds is a master with pencil.
Well I think you are better then your teacher...
Your efforts work well and the person like it very much. It is real satisfaction for work. You use your mind to make the card.
I actually thought that was a black and white picture of him and the dog until I read that it was your drawing.
Wish I could draw close to how you do
Wow, that was a cool photo art, you created it it perfectly even I am not seeing the original photo.. You mentioned that you will use this as gift to the person in the photo, you know what? along with that, you can try checking http://www.shoppingformen.com.au/product-category/executive-products-for-men/, from there you can also see several photo frame in sophisticated design specially made for men, perfectly for that special photo.
