Hay everybody. I have been kind of out of the loop. I have been reading all the post on my Email but have not replied to a lot. You all have been turning in very nice stuff and I have kind of had the blahs and have not done a thing. I did open my mouth and volunteer to make a patch for our annual camp out next month. About 10 - 12 of us get together and have a rendezvous and camp out that is all done period correct.(1700's period) We shoot muzzle loaders, throw tomahawks & knives, building fires with flint and steel and try to out lie everybody else. We always have blanket prizes that are always hand made stuff. (that is what I made the feather for last year and this year I am putting up my drawing of the flintlock). It is always a fun time and you get to see old friends some coming from out of state. Well to get to the point I had to do a period correct patch. So I did a lino. block. Here it is and it isn't as nice as what you all have been doing but I thought I would share what little I have done. ( That Kestrel is still in the back of my head and will be my next project. Geri - Missed ya; glad you popped back in time to post that super little lino print. Looks authentic to me. The camp out sounds like great fun and a place to get lots of super photos for future ref. too!

Marsha, first of all, very best wishes for your singing gig Saturday night. I'm so pleased for you!
What wonderful drawings from the doctor's office! In the first, your drawing captures in a few strokes that there is something bothering the woman's hip or leg. Great job. In the second drawing the leaves are so well done and the rounded shape of the vase comes through very well.
Geri, I'm so sorry you are experiencing the blahs. I miss reading your to-the-point comments. It's so great that you're able to bring your artistry to your group of muzzle-loaders with a patch for the outing. With it carved on a Lino block for printing, I'm betting that (even though they didn't have linoleum in those days) your preparation for printing the patches was very similar to how it was done in Revolutionary times. And your drawing of the gun is a perfect item to donate for the event. So nice to hear your voice.

Kind of fun to sketch people without their knowledge. We had the the girls yesterday (my grand daughters ) and we took them to the Commons which has a big indoor playground. I thought that I would do sketches while we watched them. Fat chance. Have you ever tried to sketch kids going 90 mph. Well I thought that I could sketch the moms. So I look for one that was sitting still and as soon as I would get a good start Their kid would run up for some reason and they would change position radically. This happened 3 or 4 times so I just gave up.
Your flower is nice Marsha. Drawing under florescent light is hard because it cast less distinct shadows. It is one of those situations where you have to make up your shadows.
Jen nice picture of th N.A. dancer. A lot of color and motion. The face is a little flat but I realize it is a small painting.
Sam I see your Granddaughter is a finger picker. I love songs with finger picking in them. You have a great start and You will figure out the guitar. You might consider a light tan color instead of the yellowish white. Just an idea.
Catherine another of you little WC of plants. Great as always nice and free. I think the rock and crock could use a little stronger shadows but still very nice.
Dang I never have interesting neighbors. At least not that interesting.
Catherine I forgot to thank you for posting the video. I see that they have Van Gogh a Gogane (sp) my favs.

Today was another busy day and I came home and crashed! Five of us worked on the big photo paintings. here are the updates. Still more work to do tomorrow. I had to quit as my back was not happy. here is my latest mini. not happy with it but I was working from a silluette.(sp) I worked on the Indian Dancer a bit too. I did these zentanngles 3 x 5. I am not at all happy with them. I was thinking we could make not cards or something with them but they are not good enough. I was working on them the last few nights. My eyes are really tired along with the rest of me!

Marsha, great sketches. You are using your time wisely. hope you singing gig goes well. You will be wonderful, wish we could all be there to cheer you on. So Clap, clap cheeeeer!
Jen Love the 50's stuff, and the zentangle pieces, (especially the Jukebox... tee hee) the dancers in oil are coming along. I think you should all set the timer on a camera and pose with the cut-outs, that would be a great memory of some very fun times. post it to us.

Sam..Your colored pencil work is so beautiful! I think it's interesting that you can layer the colors like that. The one your working on now, looks so well done, as usual. You're such a good artist and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Kim.. I'm thinking you're right about not trying to go back in and put a background in the plant painting. I'll leave it as part of my learning experience. Thank you for sharing the advice regarding keeping in mind the need to add variety for interest in bigger areas of a painting. I'm thinking about writing all these pieces of advice down and then before I say a painting, sketch is done, I'll do a "walk through" of my work to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Yes, I like the piece of sandstone too. It seemed to say "stone" without a lot of visual explanation.
Marsha..Thank you, I do like the stone too. Your sketches from the waiting room are very nice. I like the one where the woman is at the waiting room check in desk. She as a nice gesture to her. Your a singer too?? Wow! That's very cool Marsha.
Sarah..I bet it's fun looking back at your first sketches! Saving all your work is such a good idea and I only wish I had all mine now.
Hello Geri! I was wondering if you were ok. February is a bad month for me too. But spring is on the way so we are all on the mend now. I really really like your crow woodblock! The angle of it's head is perfect! I'm glad you like the videos. I wasn't sure if anyone had seen them and thought what the heck, I'd just share them anyway. Makes me want to go out and buy some oils/acrylics and a canvas! lol
Jen..I really like your Zentangle work and the big cut outs look like so much fun! Your little oils are so sweet and could be hung any where as they don't take up a lot of space.
Alex...I did enjoy painting the leaves on the plant in the pot. It was fun making them all the same yet each one unique. Yes, seeing a nude person at 4 in the morning was an interesting way to start out a Saturday! lol
