Hello to:-

Geri, Sam, Jen, Bonnie and Kim

I will never catch up, twenty pages have gone by since I last looked and some lovely work posted.

Thanks to each and everyone for all your kind words......I used to exhibit my work but paint mainly for pleasure now. The occasional commission I accept..I find them .too stressful.

Catherin Bristol in my opinion is the best for pen and ink.  It has a hard surface that lets the ink make fine lines without bleeding but yet it soaks into the paper quickly so that it doesn't smear.  WC on the oher hand does not work as well. as you can see by the crappy washes that I did.  There may be some that like it but I don't for WC but for drawing its great.

. I tried to catch some fog. I mist.

Hi all and Geri I think you done good ,still trying to get the hang of pastels I'm beginning to think I can get the same results with wc or gouache with a lot less work but I'll keep working on it, perhaps when I can work outdoors with a larger ground I'll discover some advantages. this is 5x6 on gesso coated scrap matboard

Fred, I love the farmer protecting his carrot patch from the rabbit that is hiding and watching him take a nap...   now is his chance to sneak in....  good job.

I can see where you used the water and card as well as the spreading ....  I love the colors.  and the gesso texture underneath...   good job.

I am NOT getting any more email replies at all when someone posts.  I am a bit concerned about this as I am ready to post the March Challenge.   I emailed interweave for assistance but have not heard.  I am not getting any emails from the February challenge either.

Geri, cute St Patrick's day card.  Love the rainbow and the coins dancing at it's end.  Cute youthful leprechaun.

Fred, the napping farmer is another nice painting.  As usual, the sky is beautiful.  It looks like the bunny is going to outsmart the farmer.  You are doing real well with the pastels.

Marsha, I don't get emails when people post, by choice.  It would drive me crazy to get all those emails.  I get emails when people send a private conversation message, I think.  I'd better check.  I read all the posts when I check the site once or twice a day.  It works fine for me.  Do you thinks you should give Courtney a heads up that you'll about to post the March Challenge?

Hello Geri,

Looking at your avatar I was reminded of a pencil sketch I did when on a course, we were given five minutes to produce a likeness!!! The original is A4.

Hello Geri...NO!!! we had a model to draw; a ballet dancer whom we had to draw and paint in many different poses .Still and moving. The course was a week long; this face was a warm up exercise.

this is for JV Schaffer...to keep company with his cats. "Correli" (a commission) is a Champion Norwegian Forest Cat. (My daughter breeds them and the owner wanted a portrait). Watercolour 15" x 30" unframed. A very friendly cat... I am sure J'V's would like him.

Sam,  I did notify Courtney and I haven't heard back as of yet.  I did mention that I was hosting the March Challenge and was worried that I wouldn't get my emails.   I personally prefer the email notification. I check my emails every day and I can flag the ones that have paintings in them for quicker reference.  Then at the end of the month I either delete them or archive them.  same with the Chatter.

Sarah very nice cat painting and quick sketch.   what a beautiful cat.

Kim: in answer to your question regarding the shoes:   I have two pair.   I cant find any more by this guy anymore.   I found them at TJ Maxx cheap,  I've tried buying more but I think he has discontinued making this style and his shoes are very hard to come by. Marc Ecko Rhinos...

FRED - Your carrot patch farmer looks just like a local restaurant owner where we frequent. She is a character - rough on the edges but what a kind soul. Love the cheesey smile on that rabbit! Reminds me of yrs. ago when a sportsman's club came out to our farm to hunt coyotes...they drove up and a coyote was waiting for them right outside the truck. I heard it grinned at them, then it took off quick - the men never had time to load up or get off the truck! Your rabbit also looks clever.

MARSHA - I'll check to see if I have not gotten Feb. Chall. emails because I unclicked it or because it's not quite working. Will let you know if it was due to a prob.. I do get the Chatter ones. I was JUST going to start a Feb. chall. photo - where did that time go?!

SARAH - The face was a quick one? It would take me that time to just do the eye...and then doubt I'd get it right.  The cat ptg. shows very soft fur. Good job with that. I've not seen a cat like this. The background/sky is unusual with its repeating patterns from the cat - interesting. I esp. love the tail and the subtle colors.

Marsha - just chkd. and my Feb. Chall. was unclicked, so it's working fine for me.

BTW - I'll keep my eyes peeled for your shoes, but sorry to say that a  quick glance on the internet did not show any matches. May have to tread lightly.
