I wasn't happy with the little bloke's face so I've repainted him three times so far and finally got it right. Whew!

Nice painting, good looking boys. Do you find that you begin to hold your breath when you have to redo something ;) And isn't it great when a painting is 'finished'. One thing that stands out is the depth you have developed in your younger grandson. I find this boy grabs my attention. Had you considered adjusting the shadows and highlights on the older boy?
Hi Valerie, I very nearly scrapped the whole thing when I couldn't get the little one right and ended up using a different reference photo for the third attempt. The older lad does need to be adjusted but I will wait and see. If I get it back and ruin it my daughter-in-law would have me strung up to the nearest lightpole.
