Art Done Wrong - Serge Waismann
Since the late 1980’s art in China has moved from the politico propaganda realism to a commercial blitz of themes that range from The Cultural Revolution to a mix of modern forms that have created the so called Modern Vanguard of Contemporary Chinese Art.
As Modern Culture in China has been reduced to the introduction of McDonalds and all major commercial brands to the mass population , a orchestrated cult of money , cars and real state has blinded the eyes and covered the hearts of a whole generation.
This forced dissemination of the English language has also assisted to the slowly degradation of genuine Chinese Culture, with the young really looking outward and very little inwards which is a contradiction in terms of traditional Chinese culture.
One century of imported ideologies, invasions , has brought the masses to a state of sheer apathy, and idolatry to the only thing they can feel and to an extent have – money. The ones with more means have take the road to the airport and are now quite visible in main urban centres from Toronto, London, N York to Sydney. Lost souls looking for an identity in foreign land …
Art as well has migrated , from its roots and is simply – the wrong turn , from what was once sublime and unique - simply Art Done Wrong - with the label made in China.
