This is a done in mostly conte stick with some pastel rubbed into the paper and is a little bigger than 11x14.  It was done as part of a display in an African art gallery.

Nice work!  What is the color of the paper, did it start out white?  Where does the pastel end and the conte begin?

Thank you!  The paper is an off-white. The colors are built up with thin layers of pastel, then conte is layered over that to touch up some areas.  The trees are conte.
