Persimmons, not tomatoes, boy oh boy

Here's a piece my son teases me with by calling it the tomato painting.  They are actually persimmons.

It's done on a 15" x 15" masonite board that has been primed 3 times with gesso. and sanded to give me a really smooth finish.

I've done a rework to show more details within the leaves, but will be  a while before I can load them up.  In the mean time, here are some preliminary shots.

I've got the whole demo on my site that also shows how I primed the board using a roller.

Very Nice!!! I work on gessoed Masonite also but I do about 20 counts of watered down gesso with sanding between each coat till I get the finish I like... but anyway I love your persimmons..... I like the fact that you chose a lighter background than your reference photo. Keep painting

Stunning colour's but loose some of the fruit - I don't think you need to spell out every one but rather soften the edges of some , loose some into the shadows and find a hero or a focal point
