Jay, I've been thinking that these California artists are promoting each other to the point of trying to look like the Hudson River School or something. Start reading the list for all the representational artists that are attending these conferences. The same names come up.

I was just introduced to this contemporary landscape artist via eye likey blogspot. I appreciate the abstract/expressionistic quality of his work. I'm finding that I am drawn to this type of a painting - realism with an expressive quality that showcases the mood and impression of the scene rather than record all the details in an accurate representation. I've noticed the same quality in the works of many of the artists I already commented about. Check this UK artist out - 83 and still painting...
