I painted this cityscape during a demo at Jerry's Artarama in Austin few days ago. Canvas size is 18x24", I used both - the brushes and palette knives. It was fun to paint, and there are still few adjustments needed. I'd love to hear your comments :-) Some 'field notes' from the demo on my blog - www.moodyartist.com
Lots of energy in this, I love it!
absolutely beautiful
it looks messy right in the middle. but your use of colours is superb.
This painting has really good energy because of the bold juicy brushstrokes. I like that the cars have their headlights on while the city is "aglow."
By the way, to the person above "messy in the middle" is rather vague. I think you need to clarify what you mean since makes for a "bad" poorly understood critique. The middle looks fine to me. I like the office building and what I assume are tree tops.
I find that there is some light from photographing the piece coming from the left which would make the right side darker. I like the pop of light along the right side about a 1/3 of the way up. The surrounding dark area may benefit from a few extra details of your choosing.
Thank you for all the comments. This painting was done during a 3 hour demo, so time was a bit short to develop it further....And although I liked to keep it looking fresh, I do agree that there are several things that I need to tweak, as some posters mentioned. :-)But I don't know if I will though lol
Then your done. don't change a thing!
Nice work
Thanks!
Hi Svetlana,I love this painting, its painterly loose style really appeals to me.I try to paint more like this but at the moment I still neaten up the edges! Have you painted anymore since? Azra Also have a look on my blog azraiqbal.blogspot.com and tell me what you think of my work.
I like it just the way it is. Looks very nice.
Great brush and palette knife work, hope you didn't change a thing.
Is this a view on Congress! It's been years I've in Austin
