I am submitting some of my work for consideration to some galleries and need to write an artist statement and BIO . I am a self taught artist and am not sure how to discribe my work. The only art education that I have other than what I have observed and learned on my own is a corrospondence course that I took several years ago. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Joyce, I would start by looking at other bio's to see what artist are including in their bio's.  You could probably start with what inspires you to paint, what is your favorite medium, have you had any formal training or are you self-taught, when did you acquire your love for art,how long you have been painting and do you have any long term goals.  These are just a few suggestions to mabye help you get started.  I would probably lay it out in word processing and once it is refined, then put it in your personal data.  Good Luck and Happy Painting.

I posted this statement to another member.  I hope it will help you get started.
