Tranquility 2009 Charcoal on Paper by Katherine Nelson www.katherinenelsonart.com
The Bluebell Forest in Halle, Belgium is an interesting subject in which to create texture expressing a mass of bluebell blooms on the floor of the forest. The texure here is created by alternating kneaded erasers, pencil erasers, steadler erasers, and finally, an electric eraser which is applied, covered, and applied again in multiple layers. The forest will be back in bloom in two weeks. A little piece of heaven on earth for the nature lover!
Katherine, this charcoal painting is stunning. I always enjoy seeing your work. The depth is incredible.
Thank you very much Sharon.
I always enjoy the drawing you post here...
Thank you J.B.! Happy Spring!
You also!!!
Hi, I really like your charcoal. I am currently learning how to do charcoal myself and it is quite a challenge. Well done!
Remarkable drawing
Thank you Cathy.
Thank you. The location was heavenly. Halle Forest, outside of Waterloo, Belgium.
I have always been fascinated by charcoal work! The fact that someone can make it come across as anything other than black and white smudges is unreal to me! This is very beautiful. The shading is great, and my eye is drawn into the background. I almost wonder what's back there. I feel like I should wander back there.
Thank you Karaway ;) for your kind comments.
The Halle forest is full of meandering paths beckoning exploration.
Thank you Frank :)
