Gainess - Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.  This painting has some history behind it that is for sure.  It's not my usual arena, but it was something I wanted to give a go.  Now I think I may have opened up a whole new avenue.  It's fun and scary at the same time.  I'm glad you happened to see it and thanks so much again.

I bet your aunt will be touched and thrilled to have this!  I have to pass on a link to an oil painter that I think blows all the usual suspects away:

http://roldandemoras.com/

This artist, a woman, paints wonderfully, and every time I look at her work I vow to keep trying to learn oil painting.  It is her Mexican and Spanish figure paintings that I think are absolutely unparalleled (I'm not nearly as taken with the still life and some of the depictions of young women in 'romanticized' settings).  You have to look through several pages of painting to get to her Mexican/Spanish work, but it's worth the effort to dig for them.

WOW, this web site is definitely worth checking out.  Beautiful Mexican/Spanish figure paintings.  I like some of her landscapes to.  I book marked it.  I absolutely loved when I fine wonderful art sites.  I can't get enough of her type of painting.  It's so moving.  I really gets you inspired to try some things.  Thanks for the information.  You take care and we will catch up with you later.

Dania, I think it is so exciting that you were able to do this for your aunt. I was totally amazed at the fact that you were able to take an older black and white photo and do research to be able to come up with the right colors. This is such a treasure for your aunt.

Yes, my family and I are going to have a fun day when I bring this over to my Aunt's house.  I'm hoping to find out more about the photo when I talk to her.  We're going to make an afternoon of looking through her family pictures.  Five out of 7 children were on Broadway at the same time in different shows including my Dad.  I have some great classic pictures, I could definitely make few series out of them.  They will be changeling because they are all black and white taken during the 1920s but that can also make it more interesting.  I want to try some in watercolor to.  So I think I'll have some projects lined up for a while, plus my landscapes.  Thanks so much for viewing again and adding your kind words.

I just love this.  But I have to tell you that I love hearing all about your research and your relative, too!  A story within the story you tell on canvas!

Thanks so much Robin.  I also posted this in the gallery (you can do a search on dania bree) where there is information about the Aunt who I painted this for (Aunt Doris) who recently passed away.  In case you did not see it - you can google or you tube Doris Eaton Travis.  You can also get information about the woman in the painting who was my other Aunt, Mary Eaton.  Hopefully I will paint some more stories on canvas about my other family members who were also on broadway.  I'm so glad you like it !
