I've been on a roll lately with marine paintings. I started doing one specific painting, which somehow led to several others, I guess when you are in the frame of mind to do something you have to just do it no matter what else needs your attention. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
The 'Pride of Baltimore' and the 'Spirit of Bermuda' at the start of the Tall Ships Race, 2009. - Oils on canvas, 21"x32"
S.V. Concordia. This Canadian training ship was sunk on February 17th, 2010 during a storm off the coast of Brazil. All 64 souls aboard were able to escape safely. -Oils on canvas, 14"x20"
"HMS Pickle after the Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805". The 'Pickle', built in Bermuda of cedar, was the fastest ship in the fleet and was selected to convey the news of the victory in the battle as well as the news of the death of Admiral Nelson to England, a journey which took 9 days. - Oils on canvas, 21"x26".

These are wonderful. I love the flotsam in the foreground of the third painting. The sails look alive. Who needs video when you can "hear" the creaking strain of the rigging in a painting.
Good excuse Chris!
Well done!!
When we were traveling back from Canada this summer we saw a tall masted ship in Lake Huron called the Madeline. We spotted he while up on a light house and then followed her to port where we were able to meet the crew!!!
