I'm pleased to be here. I've spent the last few days looking through the site and am enjoying it. Hope to post some work and have a few discussions with y'all in the future. As you may guess from the y'all, I'm a born and raised NC painter, living on the coast. Happy painting!

Welcome to Artist Daily. You are sure to enjoy the group and we are looking forward to seeing your artwork.
Welcome JCW!
Looking forward to seeing some of your work and glad that you are enjoying the site. I am from central Virginia, but spent a lot of my childhood on the North Carolina coast - one of my favorite places was Cape Hatteras and I must have climbed that old lighthouse a few dozen times! I am glad that they were able to move and preserve it too. And I love Assateague Island and the wild ponies, as well as exploring Kitty Hawk and the huge sand dunes. And I say Y’all all the time too!

Thanks Margo and Barbara! The OBX is a beautiful area. I'm located on the mainland, directly across from Atlantic Beach, considered the southern outer banks. Can see Cape Lookout on a clear day. We are ready for Spring here!
Hi jcw and welcome, from a fellow North Carolinian. I'm on the western side.
Thank you Helen. May be up that way this spring or summer. Would like to paint some hills for a change and not have to worry about water or boats!
Hey JCW! Welcome to the site, hope to see some of your work soon!

YVS, thanks for the welcome. Peeked at your watercolors, (loved the structures) and think we are attracted to some of the same scenery! Here in Eastern NC there are plenty of rusting barns, silos, cars, etc. My favorite! Hope to chat with you some in the future, JCW
Thank you JCW, and I too hope we'll keep the communication going!
I heard a lot about NC, mostly because I used to play Basketball and UNC and Duke are huge rivals. But then I heard about some great Art towns in NC, and that was something that interested me even more. I heard your state has great scenery!
JCW, I assume that you already know that Cheap Joe's is having marvelous workshops every month throughout the year. They are mainly watercolor workshops. I think one is oil and another is collage. You may have already checked them out, but if you haven't, you should take a look.
Hey Jim, went to your website - wow! You have some great work! I really enjoyed "the shop" from the rural selection. I really enjoyed the other ones from travel and coastal. I do not paint much in Oils but I do have great appreciation for the medium, and I really liked what I saw!
Thanks so much! Like I said, I think we may have similar tastes in subject matter. If it's old and rusty, I'll paint it! Hope we can chat some. I admire your watercolor skill. I don't do anything I can't paint over, due to many, many corrections during a painting. I can beat a painting to death!!! Trying to be more accurate in the beginning stages, but usually I'm way off and have to keep fighting to get a respectable finish. I'll bet you'd be fantastic in oil, Y!
I'll do that Margo, thanks. Though Joe is about 6 hours from here... I'd have to plan on spending a couple days up that way.
Hey Jim, welcome to the site!
