This “Jesus riding into Jerusalem” ballpoint pen artwork or illustration certainly represents what can be done with oil based colored inks. My drawing is in color, has an animal, a crowd, buildings, deals with perspective, shadows or day light plus an ink medium! Many art medium have pasted through my hands over the past fifty-five years as an artist. That certainly qualifies me as being worthy of an opinion when I declare ink as about the most difficult medium we have. Pen and Ink has been around more than for over four thousand years or longer than just about every other art medium history. Ink is a non forgiving art medium therefore deserves everyone's total respect! If you doubt me try drawing a baby from life with a pen my friends and you'll see what I mean.A picture like this has been some what stylized in order to make it pretty as a picture. I doubt people's apparel came in that many colors, those old building didn't have more cracks or battle scares and assume each individual were carrying more personal shopping items. I'm however very pleased to have captured such a remarkable historic day coming out of Jerusalem. I personally love the way this picture came out plus like it framed in gold. This particular artwork depicts my first crowd and building scene using ink yet hopefully not my last. Many years of drawing out doors certainly helped produce they kind of artwork I might add. Hopefully everyone will enjoy what colored ballpoint pens can do because it's a large developing movement surfacing worldwide.
Have a blessed day, Jerry Stith
