It is a first. Am a long subscriber to Am.Artist and still studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. Born a musician, I feel I am ready to create on my own however I need suggestions as to HOW TO INTEGRATE MUSIC INTO MY ART - I am currently studying FAUVISM (with almost pure colors-oil is my medium). Thank you all.

How to integrate music into your visual art ? Well, that is a good question and I am afraid that there is no right answer. I am as well a amator musician but personally I do not try to integrate music into my visual work. It is obvious that those 2 types of expressions ask for 2 differents types of feeling it. Visual art is really concrete and based on the eye (even when the painting is abstract it is still really concrete in the way that you are creating something that make sense with the eye) however music is always abstract and you cannot reduce it to something concrete (especially because music is based on Time).

This is my take on it.

Reine, I wish I could remember the name of the man who does exactly this. He is a doctor and does absolutely exquisite work using the computer to create the art. The sound of the music is used to create colored light (kind of like the light shows you see that are computer generated with musical sounds. This man has a website and may have been discussed in one of the past issues of the Artist's magazine or Watercolor Magic which is now Watercolor Artist. If I come across the information again, I will try to get back to you with it. His art was beautiful.
