As a "Newbie, I have a wealth of questions, but I'll begin with these two.
Could someone please explain how the star ratings are created and how points are accumulated and what they mean?
As for Tags- how are they created? It appears that some are applicable only to a specific painting or artist and can't be used by the general membership. Was that the intent?
Thanks, Missy

Hi, Missy, I understand that the star ratings are just for fun at this time. Hopefully someday they'll convert into dollars....nah...
About the tags, can't answer that.

My guess re: Star ratings Point arrow to stars and select poor, fair, avg, good or excellent
re: tags When you download your painting, you can select tags or enter your own tag name
Missy, the 'tags' are really nice to have when you want to search on something specific. Adding a tag to your image or thread is not required, but certainly good for others doing a search. For example if I was uploading a painting of a bowl of pears, I might use the tags, 'pears, still life, bowl, val cox. Then when someone searched on any of these keywords, my related image would come up.
I hope that helps! Val

I don't seem to be able to find where to upload any images of my paintings. All I've been able to do are view others' works and comment. Can you help? Thanks Johanne
Go to Galleries, in the upper right corner of Gallery you will see "upload" and follow directions. You may need to resize your picture to be able to upload.
how do you know if anyone had made comments on your work without checking each posted picture? and the groups seem a bit odd, I don't seem to fit into any of them.
Hello Judy,
You can check to see who has made comments on your work by looking at the member gallery page. Each gallery image has the number of comments listed at the bottom. It will say zero if no one has written anything yet. Of course, in order to read them, you will need to click on the image.
Groups. . . .The site originally started out having groups in a range of topics that everyone could join in. But, as we developed the site, we realized that we were limited in the number of groups we could create based on our platform. So, we had to shift how they were/are used. We are definitely looking to grow them by adding societies, classes and retailers to the mix, but that has been put on the back burner in order to develop some other pieces of the site, like the video page and the free content. The plan is, though, that the groups will change and grow as the site does.
Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else,Karyn
