Coffee With Steve

30 Sep 2008

In the upcoming weeks, the American Artist website will begin a transition to a new platform that utilizes the advantages offered by community technology. I've decided to take the lead and launch the first blog on our new site. My future posts will include summaries of conversations I’ve had with people during my 30 years as editor-in-chief of American Artist magazine. Many will summarize the answers I’ve given to artists who have asked for advice over the years or are pieces of conversations I’ve had with dealers, jurors, or other magazine editors regarding the state of representational art in America.

This new opportunity to interact with our readers has me so excited that I’ve already begun writing several posts in advance, and as I write them, I can imagine you the reader sitting across from me in a coffee shop trading stories that amuse and enlighten both of us. Now that I’ve started the conversation, I hope you will respond by sending me an e-mail or participating in the Forums section of our website (http://www.artistdaily.com/).

Before I write any more, however, I need to know how you take your tea or coffee—decaf or regular, sugar or cream?

I take my tea, depending on what kind, if it is a flavored kind, with honey, otherwise just the tea, hot or cold.  Thanks.

So good to see so many friends on here already. . .Tea is good any way that it comes, and coffee with lots of sugar and cream.

Thanks for starting this, Steve!

Strong, cream-only, and decaf ... I've been forbidden by my family and co-workers ever to partake of any caffienated beverage because I'm too intense.  ;-)

Always black, always strong flavored. {{{{Regular}}}} first thing but decaf later.

English Breakfast Tea please - and I need two mugs in a morning (no sugar) before I press 'publish' on my blog!

It's good to see the Journal fraternity getting into blogging.  As somebody who has been blogging for the last three years I really enjoy it and can highly recommend it.

I am however not thinking of abandoning my 900+ subscribers and fully intend to keep blogging where I am at present - but I did wonder whether it is possible (through a feed?) to achieve a link between my blog and this site and vice versa.  I guess all will be explained in due course.......... :)

I'm a stupid water drinker; may I join. I have a natural high and do not want to think about the walls I will bounce from if I introduce caffeine.

Hi Steve,

Green tea after throwing away the first water or just hot water please!

I learned to drink hot water from a lovely chinese friend of mine.

I'm exited to be able to learn so much from your long experience. Thanks!

If it's tea, then a nice cup of Earl Grey with a sweet-n-low and a spot of cream plz.  If it's coffee, I like it black - go figure - lol.  ;-)

I love your magazine and have been enjoying this site.  I'm relatively new to the art scene, and look forward to learning more, seeing other's work and sharing ideas.

Thanks for your hard work in making this site possible.  Sincerely, fellow art lover, Laura

I just found out it is easier to draw than make tea or coffee after seeing how many different ways there are to make it.

Still, while I am enjoying this wonderful site I will take mine "Double Double" Thanks.

I suppose the donuts are all gone by now. Coffee with cream, or Assam with cream and sugar. Thanks. Have taken the magazine for a million years, but just recently joined here. If you're ever in Wales, give us a call.....I'll put on the coffee pot!  (Cariad, aka L S Garwood)
