In the upcoming weeks, the American Artist website will begin a transition to a new platform that utilizes the advantages offered by community technology. I've decided to take the lead and launch the first blog on our new site. My future posts will include summaries of conversations I’ve had with people during my 30 years as editor-in-chief of American Artist magazine. Many will summarize the answers I’ve given to artists who have asked for advice over the years or are pieces of conversations I’ve had with dealers, jurors, or other magazine editors regarding the state of representational art in America.
This new opportunity to interact with our readers has me so excited that I’ve already begun writing several posts in advance, and as I write them, I can imagine you the reader sitting across from me in a coffee shop trading stories that amuse and enlighten both of us. Now that I’ve started the conversation, I hope you will respond by sending me an e-mail or participating in the Forums section of our website (http://www.artistdaily.com/).
Before I write any more, however, I need to know how you take your tea or coffee—decaf or regular, sugar or cream?
