The Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) recently held its 16th Annual International Exhibition and Convention at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, in Seattle. More than 770 works were submitted for entry, and 124 were accepted for show in the juried exhibition. Nearly $15,000 in prizes were presented, and among the artists receiving awards were Jeff George, who won the CIPPY Best of Show and the Staedtler Award for his piece Empty Nest; Paul Van Heest, who won the CPSA Award for Exceptional Achievement for Globophobic Porcupine; Tonya Holland, who won the Canson Fine Art Paper Award for Exceptional Merit for A Desert Power; and Constance Speth who won the Prismacolor Award for Exceptional Merit for Transient Light.
