More than $10,000 in cash and merchandise was awarded to 34 pastel painters at the Connecticut Pastel Society's 14th Annual "Renaissance in Pastel" exhibition. One hundred and fourteen artists were represented in this show, held at the Clubhouse and Saltbox Galleries at the West Hartford Art League. Among the artists receiving awards were Rainie Crawford, who won Best in Show for Papier Mache Doll With Yellow and Red II; Alain J. Picard, who won the CPS Founders' Award for Evelyn; Sam Goodsell, who won the Art Spirit Foundation Dianne B. Bernhard Award for Inner Dance; and William Schneider who won the CPS President's Award for The Blacksmith.
