This exhibition of paintings, drawings, and sculptures featuring 25 works drawn from the Portland Museum of Art’s permanent collection explores the myriad ways contemporary artists use graphite in their work. The show features the traditional use of graphite—in pencil form—as well as graphite used in powdered and liquid form to create abstract compositions. Among the artists included in the show are Brett Bigbee, John Whalley, and Alex Katz.
