Twenty original paintings and drawings, as well as four original sculptures, from famed Western painter and illustrator Frederic Remington will be on display at the Fenimore Art Museum, in Cooperstown, New York, through September 4. Remington was regarded as a chronicler of the American West, making a name for himself as an illustrator of Western and military subjects for many widely circulated magazines of the late 1880s and 1890s, including Harper’s Weekly, Harper’s Monthly, Collier’s, and Cosmopolitan. Culled from the collection at the Frederic Remington Art Museum, in Ogdensburg, New York, this exhibition showcases not only the breadth of the artist’s work but also the extensive Remington holdings of the art museum.
