The work of still-life and figure painter Raymond Han will be the focus of this exhibit at Forum Gallery, in New York City, through October 21. Han’s large-scale, subtly colored, idealized arrangements of china, glassware, flowers, and human figures offer a respite of quiet contemplation to his viewers. Soft-toned, these studio arrangements are punctuated by bursts of color provided by items such as single flowers, orange peels, and cascades of colored paper. The artist arranges his subjects in invented “conversations,” with each object portrayed as a flawless, idealized version of its true state.
