Internationally celebrated landscape painter Kevin Macpherson’s Reflections on a Pond series—which debuted at the Pasadena Museum of California Art—will be on display in New York City at the historic Salmagundi Club from February 15 through 26. There are several exciting educational events complementing the exhibition, including a painting demonstration, a weekend workshop, and a conversation with Macpherson, featuring a presentation and Q+A session. (See below for full details.)
The Reflections on a Pond project originated from Macpherson’s desire to create a series of 368 paintings based on the small pond behind his beloved Taos, New Mexico, home. The artist spent nearly five years completing the project, giving himself the time required to create a painting that best represented each day of the year. Macpherson’s goal for the series wasn’t just to capture the physical appearance of his subject but to challenge his powers of perception, deepen his understanding of light and atmosphere under changing light conditions and seasons, and create a visual journal of a place close to his heart and home.
In addition to the "Reflections on a Pond" exhibition, Macpherson will simultaneously be displaying Portrait of China, a series of paintings from a recent trip to China. For more information on both exhibitions, contact Linda Fisler at lfisler@lindafisler.com.
