En Plein Air: Paint-Out in Central Park

16 Jul 2009

Kevin Macpherson, Kenn Backhaus, Joe Anna Arnett, and James Asher—four professional artists who are featured in the new PBS series Passport & Palette—will all leave their particular corners of the country to convene in Central Park this Saturday, July 18, for a day of plein air painting. This New York City Central Park Paint-Out will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (rain date July 19) at Bethesda Terrace, between the Angel of the Waters sculpture and the Lake.

Painters of all levels are invited to come, free of charge, and paint or sketch alongside these master artists, and art enthusiasts are equally encouraged to watch the artists in action. If any of you have the opportunity to attend this plein air event, post a comment or picture here and let us know it went!

I attended the Paintout in Central Park. Kenn Backhaus painted a portrait of me and I watched Kevin McPherson eat a pickle for lunch.
