I'm Juliette Aristides, an artist, educator, and author
based in Seattle, Washington. I have joined on at Artist Daily as a blogger and wanted to introduce myself to all of you.
I strongly believe that during a tumultuous age (as ours is), artists have an important job
bringing cultural renewal and vision to the time in which they live. Because of
the importance of our calling as artists, we need every tool available to fully
express ourselves to reach our full potential. In this spirit, I founded the
Aristides Atelier at Gage Academy of Art.
As a sanctuary for
those who love beauty and the great traditions of drawing and painting, the
Atelier continues as a vibrant community where students acquire the foundational
skills necessary to become artists.
In
order to help students get easier access
to a traditional art education I have authored two reference books: Classical Drawing Atelier, Classical Painting Atelier, and one 'how-to' book titled: Lessons in Classical Drawing. These books include numerous schools of thought and
artists all focused on the revival of drawing and painting skills.

Within
the Atelier, I am surrounded by the difficulties that students face and their
ultimate triumphs--and these are issues that are faced by anyone in the pursuit
of artistic excellence. It is my great pleasure to join the Artist Daily
community to offer a glimpse into this experience as well as discuss how to draw with solid skills and
techniques and general reflections on art. I look forward to our future conversations. Until then,
--Juliette
