Q: Recently I attended a workshop where the instructor
painted on aluminum flashing. Is it possible to acquire copper sheets
as large as 20 inches tall? If so, where? My instructor recommended
varnishing the metal sheet with Golden Mineral Spirit Acrylic (MSA)
varnish. Would this work with copper too?
A: Copper is becoming very popular as a support for
paintings. I would suggest purchasing copper online from a
roofing-supply house, such as McMaster-Carr. The Golden varnish should
work well on both aluminum and copper.
