Cleaning Paintbrushes

24 Feb 2009

Q: I have a few paintbrushes that have hardened oil paint stuck in the bristles. In which solution should I soak them?

A:
There is a great soap called The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver that really works on brushes that have hardened with oil and acrylic paint. It is sold in a thin, flat, round plastic container that has old-fashioned, dark brown lettering. It is also sold in a bar-shaped cake and in a tub. Most art stores carry it, including *** Blick, which also carries it online.
