Q: Is there anything I can do to speed up the drying time of oil?
A: Yes, there are many choices. Alkyds are drying agents
that speed up the drying process. Winsor & Newton makes Liquin
mediums that can dry a painting in about 24 hours. Sennelier is coming
out with new mediums this fall, one of which is called Fluid 'n Dry and
will speed up drying time and leave your artwork looking glossy. Gloss
is important because most alkyds are known to leave paintings looking
matte and flat. Thin paint, of course, dries faster than heavy paint.
