About patty rios

I live in southwest Missouri near beautiful Stockton Lake. I have been an artist since I was a child thanks to nurturing from my family. I spent most of my adult life as a gemmologist, goldsmith and jewelry designer and have retired from that profession summer of 2012. I am persuing my first love as a watercolor and pastel painter with all my heart and soul. I love to portray the world around me - the landscapes, wildlife, flowers, pets and people. There are not many people around here to share art experiences with so I am very grateful to belong to this vast group of online artists. I hope for honest critiques so that I may progress.

Whitetail #2

The pastel done from the charcoal previously posted. This one is 11×14, much larger than the charcoal. I hope you like it. Please critique for me.

Isolated storms

I did this from a plein air watercolr from earlier this summer. I used pastels and strathmore pastel paper. I am not happy with the grainy look and whould like recommendations on a better pastel paper. Any critique would be appreciated. I need to get better!!! Thanks for looking at my art. Patty

Whitetail

A study to prepare for a pastel and a watercolor. I'm trying to get to know the subject first. Done with prismacolor charcoal pencils.
